Principal's Message
Dear Parents, It is my pleasure to welcome you for the 2011-2012 school year at Butterfield Elementary. I am honored to serve as your principal. Butterfield has an incredible faculty and staff, all committed to the success of every student. I am excited to be joining a school culture with a tradition of high expectations, collaboration, and a focus on student learning. My objective is to build on these important traditions and practices to ensure that every student is successful. I hope you have been able to spend some quality time with your children enjoying the summer break. We have been working very hard this summer to ensure that your child will enjoy a positive and successful experience at Butterfield this year. Our goal is to create a safe school climate that maximizes student learning and develops well rounded students. A little bit about my background: I graduated from Moreno Valley High School and then attained my bachelor’s degree in history from California State University San Bernardino. I stayed at CSUSB where I also earned my teaching credential and master’s degree. I taught in the Val Verde USD for eight and a half years. During that time I attained my administrative credential from Chapman University. I then transitioned to Riverside USD as an assistant principal and then Tustin USD for the past two years where I was also an assistant principal. I am thankful to be back in the area. I look forward to meeting and connecting with all of the students and their families. As the partnership between home and school is vital to the success of all students, I encourage you to become involved in school activities. Involvement may include volunteering in the classroom, attending school functions, joining the Booster Club, and serving on our ELAC and School Site Council, just to name a few. Your time and commitment are highly desired and greatly valued. Communication is also crucial to a successful home/school partnership and you can expect that we will keep you up to date on important school events and issues. Once again I look forward to working with all of you. With your support this will be an exciting and successful school year! Mr. Jon Black Principal |
